Get to know Hólmari

There's no better way to experience different cultures than meeting the locals. 'Hólmari' is the correct term for someone from Stykkishólmur.

On your travels around the quiet fishing village you will see, and hopefully meet, a variety of 'Hólmarar'. They come in all shapes and sizes.

At first they might seem like they can't be bothered, but as soon as you approach them they'll greet you with a smile and give you recommendations to their favorite restaurants, show you where to find a hidden spot in the surrounding area or even invite you to dinner. 

Deep inside they really want to talk to you and share their favourite stories about their hometown...or family members and pets.

If you can't think of a topic to talk about, the weather is always a safe bet.
